Bochicchio Sports Character Initiative

On August 1, 2009, we sponsored a special soccer coaching workshop in honor of Joe Bochicchio. Held at the University of Scranton, the workshop included classroom and on-field presentations by our trained committee members and by area collegiate coaches.

Soccer Workshop Coordinator: Stephen Klingman

Steve Klingman is currently the Associate Athletic Director at the University of Scranton and one of the area's most experienced soccer experts. He is a former professional soccer player and was, from 1973-1994, the Head Men's soccer Coach at the University of Scranton, where he led the program to national prominence with 13 NCAA tournament appearances, two national championship appearances, and four trips to the "Final Four." Over that time span, he compiled a remarkable record of 324-116-23. He has coached soccer at all levels, including premier-level club soccer and school soccer, where he put together an astonishing  61-1-1 record as a middle school coach. He has recently decided to return to the school-soccer circuit as the Head Coach for the Abington Heights High School boys soccer team.
